A brief history of the area

PheZulu Game Estate was developed by Leo Kroone. He noticed a decline of the Valley of a Thousand Hills as the invasion of alien vegetation swept through it. To combat this, he built the estate as a way for pro-conservation families to live together and preserve the valley's heritage. The estate took this vision even further by providing security without internal fences and restricted space.

Today, PheZulu Game Estate remains true to its conservation values. The estate employs five permanent staff who remove alien plants. This allows the veld to return to its natural state and opens land for indigenous game. Through these efforts, the reserve's animal populations have flourished.

Climate

The tranquil way of life enjoyed by residents of PheZulu Game Estate is complemented by lovely weather for much of the year. In winter, maximum temperatures are generally in the high teens or low 20s, with minimums dropping into the low teens or below the 10°C mark.
