The beautiful suburb of Monteseel can be found above Drummond and below Inchanga in the Outer West Region of Durban. A brief history of the area

While not much has been documented about Monteseel, records reveal that wattle was farmed in the area as early as 1870. Elsje De Kock was one of the earliest owners of Monteseel. She also farmed wattle. The land was later sold to Dr Angus Seele in 1951. The first survey of Monteseel was done in 1949 and the township of Monteseel was registered on the 14th May 1951. Today, Monteseel is a top spot for rock climbing with the first routes climbed in the 1940s.

Climate

Monteseel's weather remains moderate all year long, with hot summer days on which the mercury can rise well above the 30°C mark and fall into the teens at night. During winter, days are pleasant, with maximum temperatures in the high teens or low 20s. On a winter's night, the temperature can drop to anywhere between 5°C and 10°C.

Monteseel has great education facilities available for scholars. Places such as Curro Hillcrest, Roseway Waldorf School, Kearsney College, Highbury Preparatory, Hillcrest Primary, as well as Hillcrest High are popular choices for both parents and children.
