Established in 1958, the South African Jockey Academy is the only institution in South Africa that offers scholars an academic, experiential, and practical learning programme. Over the last six decades, the school has produced 13 champion jockeys in six countries. The school is well resourced with modern training facilities and highly experienced staff. The closest hospitals for residents in Summerveld are Busamed Hillcrest Private Hospital, as well as the Highway Sub-acute and Rehabilitation Hospital. 

With facilities for 20 horses, the Summerveld Equine Hospital offers 24-hour emergency service. Numerous procedures such as orthopaedic, ophthalmic, upper airway, and abdominal surgeries, can be performed at the hospital under general anaesthesia. The hospital is equipped with modern diagnostic equipment including video endoscopy, ultrasound scanners, shock wave therapy unit, and x-ray machines.

The King Shaka International Airport is 61 km away from Summerveld. This journey will take a 47-minute drive via the N2 and N3.

Natal Saddlery also caters for both horses and riders essentials. Along with an onsite saddle fitting and support facility for riders, they have excellent horse feeds and veterinary supplies.

1. Summerveld Club House

2. GibaLand

Nestled in the heart of Giba Gorge, the exciting GibaLand is a fun adventure for everyone. GibaLand is part of the Giba Gorge Mountain Bike Park, which is home to a perennial stream and magnificent waterfalls. 

3. Winsome View Animal Farm

The Winsome View Animal Farm is an exciting educational place. Both kids and adults get to learn about animals while they have fun interacting with them. The farm has a variety of animals such as ducks, geese, chickens, squirrels, pigeons, guinea fowl, pigs, goats, sheep, donkeys, ponies, as well as rabbits. The venue also has a lovely little tea garden.
